| What is Notification Direct? The
Notification Direct service emails your notifications to you when the books you are
interested in are published. Please ensure that your email address is correctly entered in
your registration details, or that you
have entered your e-mail address correctly when adding a notification.
How To Set Your Notifications
There are 2 ways of setting Notifications:
Forthcoming titles or subject areas
Adding a notification
Simply go to the details page for a forthcoming title, or to a list of titles for a
subject. Click on the Notify Me button, and you will be asked to enter
your email address. You will be given a Notification ID number; if you
want to delete this notification later, you will need this.
Deleting a notification
Each time you are sent a notification you will find a URL at the end to allow you to
remove the notification; if you enter this into your browser it will bring up a form with
the details already included, you simply need to click on the Delete
button to remove it. If you wish to delete a notification and you haven't got any results
you can use the Notification Deletion
Form; you will need to enter the Notification ID and the email
address you used.
Enhanced Notifications
(this is only available to registered users of SprintBooks' website who have
logged in. If you have not already done so,
click here to register, it's free!)
Your First Notification
Once logged in, click on the Edit Notifications link on your
Registered User Menu, then click on the 'Add
Notification' button.
You will then be presented with a search form. Enter the search criteria for the types
of books that you are interested in, specify a descriptive name for the search and click 'Save
Notification'. You will then be returned to your 'List of Current
Notifications', which will have your new notification listed below.
For example, anyone interested in new Java books would type 'java' in
the Title field, and 'New java books' in the Description field, or if you
are interested in knowing when your favourite author has released another book type their
surname in the Author field.
Deleting Notifications
If you no longer want to receive a particular notification, simply click the 'Delete'
link to its right. The notification will be deleted and you will be returned to your 'List
of Current Notifications'.
Editing Notifications
To change a notification, click the 'Edit' link to the left of the
description, change the search criteria for the notification and click 'Save
Notification' to update it.
Testing a Notification
You can test the notification at any time by clicking on the 'Search now'
link. A list of the new titles that match your search criteria will be displayed.
